Celebrate International Day of Forests With Go Jauntly

International+Day+of+Forests2.jpg

On 21 March in 2011, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed this day to be known as the International Day of Forests. It’s a day to raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests, across the globe. They cover one-third of the Earth’s landmass and perform hugely valuable functions around the world.

Here in the UK, we’re extremely lucky to have a number of forests and woodlands that we can discover. As well as raising awareness of the importance of the woods to our planet, we wanted to highlight the importance of connecting with nature to benefit your wellbeing too. Shinrin-yok, or forest bathing, is one such way to do so. But what is forest bathing? Simply put, this is the Japanese art of being at one with the woods. This practice allows you to connect with nature, which we know has significant impacts on your mental health.

And while we must remain local when exercising, we wanted to share some of the best forest walks on our Go Jauntly app. They’re great for discovering nature & wildlife near you, whilst practising the art of forest bathing. If you live close by why not try them out? Don’t fret if these walks aren’t in your local area, just bookmark them for future adventures, when it’s safe to do so.

There’s also a competition at the bottom! Scroll down to find out more…..
