Did you know that it’s Living Streets’ National Walking Month this May! As keen lovers of strolling, walking and wandering, we wanted to help celebrate with this wide-range of 31 amazing community walks across the UK. They include dog friendly, kid-friendly and accessible walking routes options. Dive right in below.

East of England

1. Marconi Heritage Trail in Chelmsford, Essex. Explore what remains of Chelmsford’s historical links to Marconi and the early days of the wireless radio on this lovely town walk.

2. Big Skies Around Three Villages in Nettleham, Lincolnshire. A tanquil walk around Nettleham, Lincolnshire, past the chapel and alongside fields and country roads.

3. Paxton Pits Nature Reserve Trail in Little Paxton, Cambridgeshire. Explore the Heron & Meadow Trails at Paxton Pits Nature Reserve. Bring a picnic, binoculars, your dogs & all the family!

4. North Lowestoft Town Trail in Lowestoft, Suffolk. This walk takes you on a cultural journey round North Lowestoft. Complete with street art, local businesses & a lighthouse.

5. South Woodham Ferrers Circular Walk, Essex. Taking in views of the river, lots of wildlife & fresh sea air.

6. Totnes River Dart Circular in Totnes, Devon. A scenic walk along the River Dart towards the AONB. Woodlands, pasture and marshes en route and great refreshments. Time is with small kids.

7. Kneller Gardens Tree Trail in Richmond, London. An exploration of trees on a riverside site. The walk is suitable for people with limited mobility.

8. King's Park to Stratford in Hackney, London. A wonderful wander to Westfield from Kingsmead Estate. Past the River Lee, Here East and the former Olympic Park.

9. Moments of Joy in West London, Chelsea, London. A linear walk from Notting Hill to Chelsea with Radley London. Enjoy beautiful buildings and hidden gems.

10. The Southampton Parks Nature Trail, Southampton, Hampshire. A nature filled jaunt around Southampton’s central parks. Complete with wildflower meadows, interesting trees & wildlife galore.

14. Black Hill to the Pinnacle & Back in Malvern Hills, Herefordshire. A walk along the top of Black Hill through to Pinnacle Hill. Fantastic views, moderate walk, quite steep at points. Cows and sheep grazing.

15. Collyhurst Parks & Valley walk in Manchester. Well-made paths & greenery but some steps & slopes. Lovely river and city views.

16. Ancient Skipton Woods & Castle in Skipton, North Yorkshire. A lovely and tranquil woodland wander around Skipton Woods followed by a visit to the medieval castle. Bring snacks and muddy shoes. teep, 3.3km 1hr+, easy level

17. Hardcastle Crags in Midgehole, West Yorkshire. A stroll through an enchanting woodland with tumbling streams and waterfalls near Hebden Bridge.

18. ​​Churwell Urban Woodland Wander in Morley, West Yorkshire. A narrow wildlife corridor with a miniature railway and pond dipping. Great for families or walking the dog

 If you love Scandinavian forests & need more pine trees and art in your life, this is for you. There's a sculpture park here. It's a beaut. Mostly flat, wheelchair accessible, 2.3km, 1hr

20. The Cresswell Circular in Cresswell, Northumberland. A dog-friendly circular stroll along the sandy Cresswell beach in Northumberland. Great for kids too. Come at low tide for rock pooling.

21. The Linlithgow Marches Trail in Linlithgow, West Lothian. Discover Linlithgow’s historic boundary stones on this stunning history walk featuring country, canal, and lakefront views.

23. Baron’s Haugh Trail in Lanarkshire. A walk around the Dalzell Estate and Baron’s Haugh nature reserve. Includes a mini tour of the Japanese garden.

Falling for Avich Falls in Argyle & Bute, Scotland

24. The Avich Falls Loop in Argyll and Bute. Explore this ancient Caledonian forest, thundering waterfalls and a brilliant community hydro scheme. Bring a picnic and forest bathe.

25. The Skirrid in Llanddewi Skirrid, Brecon Beacons. Hike up the ‘holy mountain’ for stunning 360 degree views of the area.

27. Tintern Old Station Circular Walk in Monmouthshire. A walk around Tintern. Starts at the old station, passes public art sculptures and views of the River Wye.

28. Stackpole Estate Circle in Pembrokeshire. History, wooded lakesides, open fields, cliff top calm, beach fun and nature’s beauty. Mostly flat, some steps, 9.1km, 2hrs 30mins
