5 Great "Greater Brockley" Walking Routes in South East London

Today The Ramblers announced the shortlist for “Britain’s Best Walking Neighbourhood 2019”. People can vote for their favourite here. Their expert panel has shortlisted the following places. Aberystwyth, Bow and Three Mills, Brighton, Brockley, Cambridge, Chorltan and Whalley Range, The Deepings, Elgin, Falkirk and Milton Keynes.

We love all of these places and of course, Brockley and Lewisham generally is a big inspiration for us and is our home. The Ramblers are referring to our area as “Greater Brockley” which, according to them, includes: Brockley, Crofton Park, Ladywell and Honor Oak Park as the “key centres”. Blythe Hill, Lewisham, Telegraph Hill, Forest Hill, Hither Green, Deptford and Nunhead are also close to our hearts.

Here’s a small selection of our best 5 walks in and around the “Greater Brockley” neighbourhood:

  1. Outdoor Art Trail Around SE4, Brockley

Enjoy some of the best street art pieces on a trail around Brockley and don’t forget the upcoming Brockley Max festival from 31st May to 8th June 2019.

  2. Brockley 3 Peaks Challenge, Greater Brockley

Inspired by the local walking champions. Take on this challenge one day and visit Hilly Fields, Blythe Hill and One Tree Hill along this route for some fine South East London views.

  3. The Point, the Tunnel and the Wharf, Lewisham

This is the stroll we took as part of Dan Raven-Ellison's "Big Walk Around London" as he continued his campaign to turn London into a National Park City (which happens this year, whoop!). The walk starts at Lewisham station and ends by Blackwall DLR. Enjoy!

  4. The View from One Tree Hill, Honor Oak Park

A perfect mini Sunday stroll for visiting friends that you want to impress. Not a pram friendly route but worth the hike up the steps for the views.

  5. Super Secret Nature Reserve, Hilly Fields, Brockley

Landmark park in the heart of Brockley has a stone circle, fantastic playground and a lot to offer. Not many people know there's a hidden nature reserve, perfect for mini woodland adventures.

Hope you enjoy these walks, we have lots across the entire country! Why not vote for Brockley (or any of the others here).
