Reduce Reuse Recycle along Exeter’s Riverside
Our latest Exeter walk is now live! The brand new interactive Riverside Recycling Trail is a circular walk around Riverside Valley Park in Exeter. Created in partnership with Devon County Council’s Waste Education Team, the jaunt reveals the rich history of recycling in and around the area alongside how waste and recycling is managed today.
Creating a circular economy is an important part of supporting our planet, with reuse, repair and recycling all vital components that we can do everyday. From canalside wandering to the historic quay in the heart of recycling in Exeter, this walk has it all. The trail will take you past the thriving trade in antiques, the ultimate in reuse, past old paper mills, lime kilns and with an option to walk as far as the site of the old glassworks. You’ll find a plethora of nature connection opportunities along the way as well as refreshment options too.
The walk starts and finishes outside the Exeter Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Marsh Barton, easily accessible via public transport. It offers two circular options helping everyone learn about the past, present and future of how natural resources and waste are managed:
Devon County Council’s Waste Education Team offer schools and community groups an opportunity to visit the ERF and learn about how waste is managed in Devon and how the ERF plant works. For more information and to book a visit please head to their website.
The addition of the interactive and engaging walks close to the plant provides an opportunity to extend learning for these groups and offers the wider community and visitors to the area an opportunity to discover more, at a time and pace that suits them.
What are you waiting for? Get walking and keep doing what you can to support a circular economy where you are. 💚
