A note from our co-founder

Like many others during lockdown, our super small team (there’s like 3 of us there or thereabouts), have been hunkering down a bit to focus on our families and our own mental wellbeing (as we know many others have had to too). I’m conscious we’ve been a bit quiet lately at Go Jauntly but fear not, we’re still here and still plugging away.

In the coming weeks and with the help of a really important partner of ours, the Nature Connectedness Research Group at the University of Derby, we will be launching a brand new nature connection feature to the Go Jauntly app. The feature is based on a research app and study, we were involved with which examined the responses of more than 800 people, including 150 people with a mental health condition. It demonstrated that a smartphone-based ‘green prescription’ that encouraged people to note down the “good things” in everyday urban nature played a role in delivering mental health and wellbeing. Evidence shows that it is well-placed to serve as an intervention for self-management of mental health and wellbeing of the nation during this time of crisis - and beyond.

Our plan is to test out the brand new nature connection feature on iPhone and then as soon as we know it’s as good as it needs to be then we will do our utmost to raise more funds to roll it out across all platforms, so everyone can enjoy the benefits that nature connection can bring. More to follow on this in the coming days, I promise!

In the meantime, we have renewed hope for the future and are ready to build on some of these exciting stories coming out in time for Living Street’s National Walking Month of May. Such as, city leaders planning for a better city life after Covid-19. Some of the measures being announced include opening up more traffic free routes to enable more walking and cycling to support the environment and reduce carbon emissions as well air pollution. These are all serious issues which drive our passions, pains and desire for technology for good. The idea of being able to help develop a sustainable new green economy blows our mind.

We have worked so hard to build up our little business and we have managed to meet and work with some amazing partners (you know who you are) and amazing people (you are incredible!) who have helped us grow our community and our business to what it is today. We would really love to continue to be a part of this and we are looking forward to being able to collaborate with some amazing people and businesses in future. We’ll keep on keeping on for now and look forward to seeing you all soon after lockdown eases.

Please do keep an eye out for our brand new nature connection feature coming soon - we really hope you like it!

Thank you for your continued support.
Love, Hana
