5 Family-friendly Waterway Walks

Waterside strolls can be one of the best ways to explore and admire both the urban and rural landscapes of the UK. From Bathampton to Brent, Go Jauntly have curated 5 new family-friendly walking routes across the UK which have been designed to showcase some of the magnificent Canal & River Trust waterways. There’s no better time to walk these routes than autumn, so get your shoes on, grab the kids and be on your way!

1. A Canalside Amble

A family-friendly stroll from Bathampton to Claverton and back along the Kennet & Avon Canal with a stop at the Claverton Pumping Station and beautiful Warleigh Weir. You may even wish to bring your swimmers with you as there is a great spot for a dip if you get lucky with the weather!

2. Stroll Along the River Brent

Explore West London’s nature from the towpaths of the River Brent and Grand Union Canal, with relaxing views of the water and green spaces. Starting from Boston Manor, you will see Brent Lodge Park, the Millenium Maze, and a small zoo. Perfect for a day out with the kiddos!

3. Explore Hebden Bridge

Discover quirky indie shops, galleries and cafes in this lovely part of West Yorkshire on the Rochdale Canal. You will feel like you are stepping back in time as you wander past the old textile mills!

4. Family Walk on the Oxford Canal
