Nature Notes on Go Jauntly
Feeling grey? Find the green and take note with #NatureNotes
In partnership with the University of Derby, we have launched Nature Notes, a brand new nature connection feature on Go Jauntly.
Nature Notes is a bit like a diary or journal to capture the good things you see in everyday nature. Daily prompts remind you to notice the natural world and can be used as a tool to help you self-manage mental health and wellbeing during this time of crisis - and beyond. Nature Notes can be used within your home or garden or as part of your local walks and outdoor adventures. It is available now on iOS and will be coming to Android in the near future.
The evidence is clear. Engaging with nature and tuning into nature boosts your connection with the natural world. It can help you to feel good about yourself. It is time to advertise, promote and prescribe its benefits to everyone.
Walking and nature connection is good for us and is a gateway to many health benefits. The country's Chief Medical Officer, Chris Whitty stated that “being outside in the park is a very good thing to do”. He is basing this on hundreds of scientific studies and quantitative research across continents that show the profoundly positive consequence of exposure to green space.
In 2017, our team partnered with the Nature Connectedness Research Group at the University of Derby to create a research app that would measure the impact of noticing urban nature on mental health. The results found that the research app can bring clinically significant improvements in mental health. We have now integrated this feature, Nature Notes into our award-winning, walking and nature connection app, Go Jauntly.
Nature Notes is really simple to use:
Take a moment to pause and notice the good things in nature.
It could be as simple as noticing a bird singing or the colours and movement of a tree in the breeze - and the joy and calm it brings.
When you're ready, write a short note in the app about a good thing you noticed in nature. You can include a picture if you like.
Doing this everyday for a week can provide a month's wellbeing benefit.
Nature connection is something that can be enjoyed from the home, garden or whilst out and about. It is recommended that you should follow all government guidance related to being outdoors to protect yourselves and others. Our core objective is to create a smartphone 'green prescription’ and this is our proud first step towards this.
We hope that you enjoy this new feature! Let us know if you have any questions or concerns or need help over at hi@gojauntly.com. Take care and stay safe.
